In the area
As the oldest and most easterly city in the continent of North America, St John’s is rich in history and has a real small-town charm, combined with elements of the modern city.
It’s a short ten minute walk into the heart of downtown St John’s, whose narrow winding streets are full of hidden alleyways, shops, boutiques, galleries, little cafes and restaurants.
Further around the harbour is the historic Signal Hill which you can hike to the top through the community of colourful houses perched on the hillside, and take a journey back in time to when Marconi received the first ever transatlantic wireless signal over 100 years ago.
